Port of Call was written entirely using manipulated synths on logic. The concept of this piece is perhaps more 'free' than some would like music to be, but I still took the time to think out the concept. As I've not the most extensive knowledge of how to make and create the exact synthesisers and electronic music sounds I envisioned, I began by experimenting until I found a few sounds I thought were cool and worked well together. From there I sort of created a plot for my piece, or at the very least what I'd consider a theme. Recently, Stranger Things has been all the rage, and while I do not personally watch the show, my piece adopted a similar vibe of post apocalyptic/monster-esque themes, even having an atmosphere like the Transformers.

 

Many of the sounds I, in truth manipulated and experimented with until they reminded me of something, for example the submarine beeps which I created by experimenting with the ES1 and then finally adding Enverb. Other sounds like the 'monster' sounds that come in part way through the piece I just chanced upon in my experimenting and deduced that it sounded, to me, like a monster and that it would go well in the piece.
