You are Enough

Worship.

This piece is based on the more ambiguous, ambient side of CCM, such as Swan Song by Hunter Thompson, or Kind by Amanda Cook, both artists from Bethel Music. These pieces certainly have darker undertones in their music, and while Swan song has more deep, dark and metaphorical lyrics, Kind tackles the softer side of sad emotions. What I adore in Swan Song and wish to replicate is the use of 6th harmonies and the layering that occurs at the end of the song. It creates a unique sound unlike most Worship.

To create this piece I actually wrote the chord progression first as I felt it important to capture the sound perfectly. Also unlike my other pieces, I first wrote the piece based on what I heard, then analysed and compared my reference pieces to see what it was about the pieces that sounded so different. After I had created the sound that I desired in my chord progressions Despite the eerie undertones, I am drawn to the fact that the pieces are an even mix of major and minor, also that the piece uses quite simple chords means it can be well adapted into a real church setting.
