Sectional Piece
Everpresent
Ever-present is a sectional piece consisting of a number of different ideas. Each Section is a representation of different parts of our daily lives and serves as a way to express the lack of consistency in life despite it being a consistent journey. Following the idea of many Sectional pieces, I took the idea very literally and very visibly with each section following after the other.
There are many pauses in the piece where Synthesizers are the only sound playing out, an idea that symbolizes rest, sleep and simply taking a break. Of course not all of the piece is like that as every other part of the piece is symbolic of work and socialization, alarms and realization. Each instrument within the piece is also focused on more predominantly in each of the 6 ideas I have constructed. The piano is like an alarm, the guitar the voices of the people in our lives and the Synthesizer again representing rest. One other noise you can hear is the sound of birds. This I put in as a contrast to the busy sounds the music creates. It is a reminder to the listener that amongst our busy lives in society, nature is still living on peacefully around us and we should neither forget nor neglect to appreciate it, no mater how out of place it may feel in our technological era.
