Progression is an Original Orchestral Piece written with the idea of a very atmospheric, somewhat dramatic piece in mind. The piece has no strict  form but uses a number of repeated themes and motives throughout. This piece is probably one of my favorites, I feel I had complete freedom in writing it, but I still struggled to 'beef' out the piece, a constant flaw of mine. The piece is actually reminiscent of Korean Pop, or Kpop songs, which sometimes tend to feel choppy, with the verse chorus and bridges often having different feels and no relation to one another. One Song in particular, Begin by Jungkook inspired my, subconsciously or not to write this piece the way it is in mood. The middle section contains a lot of brass, due to my desire to give the brass more parts and create that choppy feel of k-pop songs this section however does contain the continuous motive, linking it in with the rest of the piece.

When discussing my, at the time, half-composed piece with a few of my non-musical friends, they gave a number of responses. A few friends stated the piece was relaxing and almost put them in a trance, others said it was quite eerie and that they had mixed emotions. To me this was exactly what I wanted the piece to feel like, with it developing over time to become more strong and dramatic, which I did by giving the brass a more dominant role and adding in more instruments on top of each other. I found that many of the parts in my piece that I was the most pleased by happened by chance, whether I deleted a section and the two neighboring sections blended seamlessly or simply cropped and distributed a particular motive randomly in a section.
